On Thursday, Rockstar Games announced that the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI has been pushed back to Nov. 19, 2026. The company apologized to fans and said the extra time will "allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

The number of subscribers to the GTA + service has been steadily growing in the lead up to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. In the most recent Take-Two Interactive earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that "GTA+ continued to grow its membership, achieving over 20% growth year over year" in the latest quarter.

GTA 5 is now on Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers, including Cloud, Console, and PC. Microsoft reveals upcoming games for subscribers, including SpongeBob and Crime Scene Cleaner. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that although the delay is difficult news, he believes Rockstar is aiming for “perfection” and that the new release window is strong. GTA 6 is now expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November 2026. There’s no confirmation yet about a PC release.

Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed again
Rockstar Games has delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 for the second time. Previously scheduled for a May 2026 release, the studio's open-world crime epic is now scheduled to arrive on Nov. 19, 2026, Rockstar Games has announced.
GTA fans often lament the loss of single-player story DLC for GTA 5 after it did so well for previous GTA games. Houser said he remains a big fan of single-player DLC, and is hoping to make some as part of his new company, Absurd Ventures.
